Panhandle Aid Event

Lou’s City Bar
1400 Irving Street NW
Washington, DC 20010
 Saturday May 18th
10:00am - 12:30pm

Join the DC Gators for UFAA’s annual International Gator Day, Saturday May 18th! This year we will be honoring and supporting victims of Hurricane Michael in the Florida Panhandle by invited our DC Gator Club community to make aid packages over brunch.
Our watch party location, Lou’s City Bar, will be hosting us and we’ll have brunch specials including BOGO Bloodys and Mimosas.
For our aid packages we are asking DC Gators to bring supplies we will package up and have delivered to the United Way of Northwest Florida. These bags were inspired by the “manna bags” constructed by the University of Florida Psychiatry Department in their annual Advocacy Day event for homeless individuals. These bags will go to displaced individuals in Northwest Florida, and we ask that you bring materials that ease the difficulties of being displaced or being on the street (ideas below).
We will also be writing motivational notes to include in the packages. If you can’t make the event, you are welcome to donate to the United Way of Northwest Florida’s Hurricane Michael relief fund online. Hurricane Michael, compared to other areas, has a huge aid gap. A category five storm no one expected has left many still in need.
To learn more about one of our Board members’ personal connection to this cause, see Caroline Nickerson’s Story here. Caroline hosted an aid bagging event with the Florida State Society that was featured in the Panama City News Herald. This event means so much to Caroline and her family, and we hope it communicates to the people of Northwest Florida that they are not alone and are not forgotten.
Ideas of what to Bring:
•    Small bottles of water
•    Hand sanitizer
•    Hair ties
•    Sunscreen
•    Socks
•    Non-perishable healthy snacks
•    Toothbrushes
•    Toothpaste
